    1. [ILHAMILT-L] BILLINGS with MAYBERRY, KIMSEY, LEAR, PRICE/PRINCE, HUBBLE, STRAWMATT, COVER
    2. Michael L. Hebert
    3. I'm doing some research on my BILLINGS line (through Patsy BILLINGS BIGGERSTAFF) and am trying to figure out the BILLINGS' who were in Hamilton Co. Here's who I'm looking at ... Henry BILLINGS m. 1823 to Peggy KIMSEY. Who were Peggy's parents? Where did Henry and Peggy go after the marriage? Arden BILLINGS m. 1823 to Mary COVER. Arden was likely a brother of Patsy (BILLINGS) BIGGERSTAFF and father of Henry BILLINGS. He was previously married in 1801 in Davidson Co, TN to Catey HARGROVE. Between 1840 and 1850, Arden and Mary and many of this family moved to the Pike Co, IL area. Who were Mary COVER's parents? Elizabeth BILLINGS m. 1826 to Francis M. LEAR. There are indications that she was a dau. of John BILLINGS (b. c1782) and born in 1808 in Iberville Parish, LA where some of the BILLINGS clan migrated from TN. But none of this is proven at this point. Francis and Elizabeth seem to have removed to Morgan Co, MO soon after the marriage. Anyone with more info. on Elizabeth? John BILLINGS m. 1836 to Polly STRAWMATT (in Gallatin Co, IL). Who were John's parents and where did John and Polly go? I've seen STRAWMATTs in Hamilton Co. Nathan PRICE/PRINCE m. 1840 to Polly BILLINGS (d. of Arden). Nathan and Polly were in Pike Co, IL in 1850 census, not far from Arden. Was Nathan a PRICE or a PRINCE? The mar. rec. and 1850 census seem to say PRICE. But, PRINCE makes a little more sense. John HUBBLE m. 1841 to Cleracy BILLINGS. Who was John HUBBLE? I can't find him before or after the marriage. Cleracy may have been another dau. of Arden. William H. MAYBERRY m. 1841 to Mary Jane BILLINGS. This one is confusing. Is this the same William H. MAYBERRY who m. 1847 to Mary Caroline GARRISON and died in 1882 in Wayne Co, IL? I have seen this indicated as so in some places. However, I have some evidence that William and Polly removed to Wright Co, MO where they show up on the 1850 census: William Mayberry 37 b. IL Polly 23 b. TN Jane 14 b. IL Elizabeth 12 b. IL Margurette 7 b. IL Henry 5 b. MO Solomon 3 b. MO Michael 3/12 b. MO William must have been married before he married Polly. Then, on the 1860 census, William seems to have a new wife: William Mayberry 45 b. IL Rebecca 28 b. TN Henry 14 b. MO Michael 9 b. MO Louisa 8 b. MO Missouri 3 b. MO Heighty (?) 1 b. MO Henry seems to actually been named William Henry. The BILLINGS link seems to come from the death certificate of one of the children. Any clues here on William and Polly? Was this William possibly the son of Solomon MAYBERRY? I've posted some BILLINGS data if anyone is interested. It is at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mhebert/sur/ >From the way it seems at this point, Arden BILLINGS and Patsy (BILLINGS) BIGGERSTAFF are descended from Jasper BILLINGS (d. 1763 in Pittsylvania Co, VA) through one of his sons ... perhaps William. There are a number of researchers looking at these BILLINGS'. Anyone with further clues on the above Hamilton Co. families, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Mike
