Thanks again to all of you who helped me out with directions for locating cemeteries around Dahlgren. My trip this weekend was a lot of fun, and very successful in terms of genealogy. We managed to find Richardson Hill without much difficulty, and met my Cousin Diane and her husband there. We had a great chance to hear some stories about growing up in Dahlgren, and enjoyed the wonderful view of the area from up on "The Hill". We were also able to find all the tombstones we were looking for and get photos. We even found several interesting ones we weren't looking for. My great-grandfather had a brother who died in infancy, and I've spent over a year looking for any evidence of his existence. Well, sure enough, he's buried at Richardson Hill right next to his grandparents. The grave just isn't listed in the HCI Cemetery transcription book! In fact, I numerous errors in the transcription book - dates transcribed wrong, information added that I know from other reliable sources to be incorrect, or very useful information that wasn't transcribed at all. It just goes to show you how helpful it is to actually visit the cemtery yourself. At Diane's advice, we had a nice lunch at Wilkey's cafe up the road in Belle Rive where folks were very nice to us visitors. We then found Bethel cemetery, where I seem to be related in some fashion or another to the vast majority of the people buried there. It's very sad, though, to see that there are at least 15 or 20 old sandstone tombstones that are now weathered away to literally just a stub of rock poking a few inches out of the ground. Anyway, it was wonderful to visit my "ancestral home" and I've got a lot of new information I need to get into my database! Thanks again to all of you who helped us out! Jim
