Hope this helps some. Jean http://www.ioc.state.il.us/cemeterycare/index1.cfmA Message From Comptroller Dan Hynes We in Illinois are learning a lot about the cemetery and funeral home industries. It's become clear these industries are undergoing a lot of changes and in some cases people are taken advantage of during vulnerable times. Often people have questions or concerns related to burial services and sometimes wish to share their personal stories. Our Office is in the process of gathering information from around the state so we can make changes in state law that protect consumers from fraud and abuse. The more information you can tell us about the upkeep, neglect or accessibility of a cemetery or an experience that you had with funeral and other burial services, the more we will together, be able to form solutions to protect consumers. Our consumer advocates are available toll free by phone or through this web page to assist in resolving problems you may have with a particular burial service. This web page was designed as your tool for getting questions answered quickly and correctly. It is yet another option we would like to make available to you so that, when in a time of need such as losing a loved one, you will be able to access credible information, receive support from others in similar situations and problem solve. We hope that you find this page to be useful. Once our statewide cemetery hearings begin, this site will provide an update on events that happen at each of our regional community meetings. Thank you for taking the time to show your interest in cemetery and funeral home issues. We are happy you have found this page and hope you continue tofind it to be a valuable resource.================== > From: robert riggs <bobbyriggs@worldnet.att.net> To: ilhamilt@rootsweb,com Subject: Fw: Old Cemetery Date: Thursday, March 22, 2001 7:46 PM > How do you go about getting the attention of those who can fund old cemetery restoration. I am talking about the Morris family cemetery that is out in the middle of a farmers field that is in very sad state. I fear eventually this cemetery will be plowed under. My 3rd-grtgrandfather and 2nd-grtgrandfather are buried there as well as other family members. It is just a short distance from Broughton, I drive thru Mcleansboro from St Louis to get to it. Thanks, Jerry
