    1. [ILHAMILT-L] Redferns from their genealogist...
    2. PS
    3. I'm glad I opened this whole can of genealogy worms...better to get this straight now than to have it go on to future generations that would be even farther away from those born in the 1800's. Hope the following will clear some of this up. In the course of all this sorting, a Redfern stepped forward with the whole genealogy, back to the first Redfern to arrive on American shores... without putting a huge genealogy here, this is what he sent me: Descendents of James Redfern James b. 1720 British Isles John Richard b. 1738 Rappahannock VA Nimrod b. 1869 Anson NC Hanzey Charles b. 1805 Anson NC Hanzey Charles Redfearn b. 1805 White's Store Anson NC d. 1859 TN m. Her name is Mariah K. in the Saline Co 1850 census for Raleigh Twp., and is Mariah in the 1860 and 1870 Ham Co census. Maybe Mary was short for that.... I have a great deal of Oglesby lineage/tidbits laying around, It's just "finding" it!! > 9. John Laurel Redfearn b. 1842 TN d. MAR 16 1922 > McLeansboro Hamilton > IL (4 or 5 wives) m. Mariah C Unknown, Anna M Pittman, > Mary Catherine > Oglesby, Artemissa Darnell, Sallie Jane Garvin I also see a Darnell from Ham. Co who married a Pittman in CA. This from our book, but descendents of this line say that is incorrect, that this marriage didn't happen...hmm.. Trev

    3. It's interesting because she is buried under Catherine, her divorce only uses Catherine, and her obituary only uses Catherine. Mariah is a different person.
