Hi List Members, Could some tell me if there is a Tax List or any kind of a list for which people had to register between 1870 and 1880? Was there an Illinois State Census during that time period? Or for Hamilton Co. I am still trying to find Joseph Smith in this time period. He was born about 1804 . He was on the 1870 Hamilton Co. Census list with wife, Mary Margaret (Mrs. Peggy) but she was listed in 1880 living with her youngest son Enoch Taylor Smith If they exist, where could I find out information from them?
