Purchaser: SMITH, JOSEPH Sale Type: FD Hamilton Legal Description: NWSE - Section 10 Township 07S Range 07E Meridian 3 - Acres bought 40 - Price per Acre 000.00 - Total Price WARRANT Soc. Stat. MALE Date Purchased 11/14/1851 Co. or St. Purchase UNKNOWN There are 3 more entries all for Joseph Smith everything is the same except, Legal description: NESW 10 -TWP 07S- Range 05E Meridian 3 SWNE 10 SENW 10 Could someone tell me where in Hamilton County this land was located? Would also like to know who is the owner now, if that information is available. Also did he purchase a total of 160 acres ? The first purchase has a different Range no. from the other 3 purchases. I think I need a lesson in map reading. Please explain the NESW . What does "WARRANT" under Total Price mean? What does Sale Type, FD mean? Thanks for any help you can give, Evalyn

At that time this land is owned by Marion & Mary E. BREEDEN (that 40 plus the 40 adjoining south, the SW quarter). About 2 miles east of Broughton. No SMITH's in the immediate area... > Legal description: NESW 10 -TWP 07S- Range 05E Meridian 3 Owned by Jerrine Carlton (this land is in a Trust). > SWNE 10 Half owned by Timothy YORK (40 acres) and the other half by James ADKISSON (20 acres). Timothy's land adjoins the land of the Liberty church & cemetery. > SENW 10 Owned by Mary LETSINGER All this land is at the end of a short gravel road (about maybe 1/4 to 1/2 mile long) running south from county road 5 (or 2870) on a ridge in South Flannigan Twp..... I was there 2 years ago, very remote area..... lot's of woods and hills. There are a few large companies such as "Outland Inc." who owns about 3000 acres (over 4 sections of land) just across the road from Liberty church. Another is "Kerr McGee Coal corp"....
