I am trying to determine who the William Dial of Co D 6 Ill Vol Cav is. James Dial had a son William H. Dial born 1844. James also had a brother William born abt 1832 and a nephew William born 1831. Either the brother or nephew could fit the age given on the muster roll. Can anyone provide information from 1860 census or other info which would clarify which William Dial it was. John, It appears there were two (2) William Dials in the 6th IL Cavalry; a William "C" and a William "H"..
