    3. Barbara, Here is the obituary of Nancy S. Gholson formally Nancy Smith Allen daughter of Zachariah Allen & Frances Snow Blackard. The obituary is courtesy of Elder Robert Webb from his files of the Primitive Baptist Library 416 Main St. Carthage, IL. The obit is from a paper called "Messenger of Peace", February 15, 1901. I believe it is a Primitive Baptist paper that published obits and news of members. There are errors in spelling and the death date of Francis should read 1880. James NANCY S. GHOLSEN Died at Las Animas, Colo., Jan. 14, 1901, Nancy S. Gholsen. Her maiden name was Allen, and she was born in Murry Co., Tenn., April 2, 1824, moved to Gallatin. Co., Ill., and was there reared to womanhood. She was married to Francis Gholsen, May 19, 1841, moved to Lafayette Co., Wis., 1844, and united with the Old School Baptist church in 1845, was baptized by Elder William Long. Her husband was a deacon till his death which occurred in 1881. Six children were born to this union four sons and two daughters, one son deceased. Her funeral was preached by Rev. DeColtman, a Presbyterian minister, from the 23rd Psalm. There were none of her faith in that part of Colorado. She lived a faithful member till death. E. A. NORTON.
