Dear, dear cousin - she will be missed greatly; she bonded with my wife, Betty, on hand-quilting and my wife always looked forward to being with her while I was running around doing genealogy in the area every July over the last several years. Zella Amanda (CAPPS) PAYNE was b. 19 Sep 1915 JCI ; #11 of 12 children born to and last surviving of George Washington CAPPS and Emma Jane PAGE (holler if anyone wants a full ancestry - she is also a ALLEN, MOORE, NEAL, RISLEY, SMOTHERS, TAYLOR, WEBB...) Zella married Harry Gilbert PAYNE (s/o Joseph Napolean PAYNE and Roxie Ann PEARSON) on 29 May 1933 JCI and they had Billy (lived 13 days) & Shirley - whom many of us know so well :-) Harry (29 Aug 1910 JCI - 11 May 1977 MV, JCI - he is a BOYER, BRITTON, COMPTON, HENLEY, NOONER, SCRIVNER, ...) I would imagine just about everyone in Dahlgren / Belle Rive area knew Zella. A life well lived - 96Y 4M 14D ... She was very active up until just the last month or so... wow! In illinois, birth recs are housed at the office of the county clerk. You should be able to find ph & addr online. 1906 is unlikely, as births were not required to be recorded yet. But still is worth looking. Delayed bc is a good point. If the person lived long enough to apply for ss, they probably would have done that. I've never looked for those but I assume co clerk has those also? > From: ilhamilt-request@rootsweb.com > Subject: ILHAMILT Digest, Vol 7, Issue 15 > To: ilhamilt@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 25 Jan 2012 01:00:02 -0700 > > > > Today's Topics: > > 1.
