    3. John Revelle Wilson, age 88, passed away at home in Ojai, Calif., on May 1, 2012, from congestive heart failure. He was born at home in McLeansboro on March 15, 1924, the eldest of four. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Revelle Wilson and Sadie McKnight Wilson; a brother, Eugene Wilson; and a grandson, Nate Revelle Wilson. John is survived by two sisters, Jane Friel of Carbondale and Cheryl Stephens of McLeansboro. He is also survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara, better known as “Ginger,” and the family, including son Scott (Christine) and children Eli and Marika; daughter Dede Pitruzzelli (Bill) and children Joseph and Stefan; daughter Gracia “Gay” Hopcia (Dave) and children Abby and Aiden; son Doug (Dina) and children Tyler, Haley, Sadie and Amanda; son Clint (Yi) and children Rebecca, Sydney and Homer. Tyler and Christen blessed John with two great-grandchildren, Ryder and Parker. John’s interest in the oil industry came while in high school when he worked in the oil fields of Southern Illinois as a “roughneck.” He left Northwestern University during World War II to serve in the Army Air Corps as a navigator, South Pacific Arena. After the war, he graduated from Northwestern with a master’s degree in geology, with a minor in chemistry. While at Northwestern, John met Barbara “Ginger” Ziegler and they married in 1948. After several years of working as a petroleum geologist for Continental Oil Co. in Texas, John took a position with Standard Oil of California. The couple moved to Ojai in 1952 where they raised their five children and supported their community. After retiring from Standard, John taught science and chemistry at Ojai Valley School and Buena High School in Ventura, Calif. At John’s request, there was no public funeral service but a private family inurnment at Ojai Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances could be sent to Help of Ojai, the Ojai Valley Museum or Ojai Presbyterian Church. CENTRALIA — Lucille Colleen Owen, age 85, of Centralia, went home to heaven — where she was met by her family and friends rejoicing at the gates — at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1927, in McLeansboro, the daughter of Alva J. and Elva (Reed) Lance. Lucille married James Lewis Owen in Chicago on May 25, 1945; he preceded her on Sept. 27, 2008. She is survived by three sons, Larry Dale Owen and wife Sue of Centralia, J.R. Owen and wife Susan of Carterville and Darrell Eugene Owen and wife Dinah of Kell; one daughter, Karen Lynn Beasley and husband Paul of Houck, Ariz.; one brother, Dale Emerson Lance and wife Marcella of McLeansboro; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother Glen Lance; sister Beulah Eilleen Cambron; and granddaughter Julie Marie (Owen) Pardee. Mrs. Owen was a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital. She lived in Centralia since 1967 after living in Carmi for 15 years, where she was a member of Stewert Street Baptist Church. While in Centralia, she was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were the center of her life. She also enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals and gospel singings. Her funeral service was Monday at Temple Baptist Church in Centralia with the Rev. Don Shaffer officiating. Interment was at Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery near McLeansboro. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church or Ten Mile Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia, which was in charge of arrangements

    3. MCLEANSBORO -- Mary Theresa (Agostine) Johnson, 50, of Memphis, Ind., formerly of McLeansboro, died at 4:40 p.m. May 20, 2012, after a car accident in Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Mary was a homemaker. She was born Oct. 11, 1962, in Christopher, the daughter of the late John Meskenas and the late Barbara (Costello) Stowers. At her request, her body was cremated, and a private family service will be at a later date in Wayne City. She is survived by her son, Kory Johnson; ex-husband, Keith Johnson of Memphis, Ind.; sisters, Paula Galloway and husband, Jeff of Benton, Patty Deaton and husband, Jody, of Herrin, Vickie York and husband, Glenn of Mount Vernon, and Irene Biggerstaff and husband, John of McLeansboro.     3. Robert Eugene Miles, 81, of Harrisburg passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Hamilton County Memorial Nursing Home in Mcleansboro. Robert was born on April 9, 1931, in Harrisburg to the late John Albert and Katheryn (Hunt) Miles. On September 27, 1952, he married Roberta Miller and she survives. Robert was a retired Navy chief petty officer aboard the USS Boxer during the Cuban Crisis. He was also the owner of Bob's Lockshop. Surviving family members include his wife: Roberta Miles of Harrisburg; son: Steve Miles and wife Cheryl of Riverton, IL; son: Earl Miles and wife Sherrie of Harrisburg; son: Alan Miles and wife Patti of McLeansboro; daughter: Teresa Golden and husband David of McLeansboro; daughter: Lisa Roberson and husband Michael of Hudson, KY; brother: William "Bill" Miles and wife Barbara of Laconia, NH; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seventeen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Loretta Gilbert, brother: Billy Lee Miles in infancy, and sister: Evelyn Ruth Miles. She was born July 3, 1929, in Macedonia, the daughter of Roy and Lillie (Barnfield) Williams. She married the Rev. Ernest Edward Cluck on Nov. 23, 1946, and he preceded her in death Jan. 5, 2001. Mrs. Cluck was a longtime member of New Life Church of God in Benton.     3. Mildred Lucille Pulliam, 97, of Mission Viejo, Calif., beloved relative, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012. She died peacefully at home following complications from a respiratory infection. She was born July 16, 1914, in Hamilton County, to George and Ercel Pulliam. Mildred’s brothers, Gilford and William, preceded her in death. She is survived by three nephews, two nieces and their respective families. During the depression, Mildred and her siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents. At age 16, St. Louis was her home and place of employment until she moved to Las Vegas in 1953. She moved to Southern California in 1971. Mildred remained unmarried, but enjoyed an abundance of close relatives all of her life. Family genealogy and politics were Mildred’s main interests, beginning in the 1950s, by which she gained recognition for her expertise and accomplishments in both arenas. Her membership and participation in patriotic organizations at local, state and national levels, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, gained many friends and contacts with distant relatives. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church near Broughton. The Rev. Robert Sefried will officiate. Burial will be at Hickory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday until the service time at the church. The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of the arrangements

    3. Ralph L. Bullock, 90, of Fairfield and formerly of Dahlgren, died 1:10 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Way Fair Nursing Home in Fairfield. He was born April 4, 1922, in Hamilton County, the son of Oscar Earl and Lillia Iona (Dagg) Bullock. He married Virginia Russell on April 4, 1946; she survives in Fairfield. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steve Bullock and wife Vicki of McLeansboro and Larry Bullock and wife Loraine of Belle Rive; a daughter, Connie McCormick and husband Marvin of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Mr. Bullock was a retired supervisor of Dahlgren Gas and Water Department and drove a school bus for Dahlgren for 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Ivan Kunce officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Dahlgren with graveside military rites accorded by McLeansboro American Legion Post 106. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
