    3. Francis Ann Redfearn second married Thomas Anderson, son of John Anderson and Mouring Maulding, on 13 Apr 1887 in Hamilton Co., IL. There's more details if someone wants them. Berry W. Redferrn, husband of Josephine Wooldridge, was born after John L. in 1845 in TN and died 15 Nov 1863 in Nashville, TN during battle. He was buried in the National Cemetery in Nashville. John L. Redfearn had a meat market in McLeansboro until his death and died in McLeansboro. There is a divorce record dated 1897 for Catherine Oglesby and John Redferrn in Hamilton Co., IL. Catherine died 15 Jun 1903. John L. and Catherine's son, Berry first married Emma Appel in Gallatin Co., IL on 28 Apr 1891. She died in 1903 and is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro. The children are hers: Berry, Harry, two daughters. John may have had six wives. I believe that Mariah was yet another wife. She and John L. were married in 1897 and divorced in Sept 1903 in Hamilton Co., Il, according to the divorce records. Mariah had a different death date from Catherine's. This Anna M. was divorced from John L. in Sept 1905. Was Artemissa Darnell divorced from John? 1880 Census- Flannigan Twp., Hamilton Co., IL: David J. Redferrn 26 MO MO MO May E. 27 IL IL IL Annis B. 1. [ILHAMILT-L] Bathsheba/ Barthaba Metcalf
    2. Bathsheba (or Barthaba as some records have it) was William and Nancy (Nelson) Malone's daughter. She was born in Hamilton Co. abt. 1829, the first child born after the family's move from Monroe Co., KY. Bathsheba married Daniel P. Metcalf 28 Jan 1847 in Hamilton Co. I'm missing the names of four of their children, but the ones I have are Romelia Jackson Metcalf (married Lucinda J. (York) Hawthorn), Martha J. (Metcalf) Butler (moved to E. St. Louis), Edward Lee Metcalf (married Florence Ann Weldin), and James R. Metcalf (moved to Eldorado). Edward Metcalf's children were Wayne Metcalf (married Sara Guernsey), Leda Metcalf (unmarried), Irene (Metcalf) Mansell, Troy Metcalf (married Laura Mae Phipps) and Beulah (Metcalf) Frymire. Does anybody know what happened to Bathsheba after the 1870 Hamilton census in which she appears without Daniel, apparently widowed. He was young enough to have been in the Civil War, and I haven't checked yet to see if he died in the War. I have been going through the 1880 CD census to see if Bathsheba is still in Hamilton then. She might have remarried, but you know the Hamilton marriage records for that period are not in any books! I also need to check to see if she went to Eldorado with one of her children. If you know what happened to Bathsheba, or where she is buried, any help would be most appreciated. Shirley Malone Fritsche

    3. Cordah The Sarah V. Munsell that you referred to below (b. 1847, d 1930), according to her obit was the daughter of Ira & Martha (Ballard) Munsell, and married James Brown (1867) and 2nd Elijah E. Webb (1883). Is this the same Sarah?? 3. Oh what dedication. Okay- I went thru this whole family trying to make sure there was just one John L. Redfearn to see if the marriages indicated previously could all have been for this same John. It looks that way. It looks as thow he was married at least three times and possibly four. I say possibly, because I need to look at the records. The Anna M. mentioned could very well be our Artemissa Darnell.... records should clear this up. Okay, from these sources below..... Robert Henderson Redfearn's obit: States he was born in Monroe Co., TN and came to Hamilton Co., IL about 1853. Sarah E. (Redfearn) Menifee's Obit: says Born Anson Co., NC. I believe there was some Redferrin/Redfearn's in the 1850 Rone Co census but I didn't have time to investigate (and I seem to recall a Preston or Presley Redfearn). I am also sending a copy of this to Betty in TX as some of these death places may help her connect her TX Redfearns to the rest of these. Most of this was pulled from the obits from the book "Legacy of Kin" By Harold Felty, and the few sources above which I believe cements the outline fairly well, but please verify the dates for yourself..... 1. [ILHAMILT-L] two sites to share: OLD OCCUPATIONAL TERMS.and another with helpful GLOSSARY
    2. Barbara Marcovecchio
    3. I just have to share a couple of wonderful genealogy sites with you all....doing research in IL,TN,KY,GA,NC,MO,CA,MS,AL,NY and even more, including England and Italy, I run into some great sites that are both helpful and pleasing to the eye...I have found two that have great resources to use with your research and are examples of great personal genealogy sites. I try to remember that new people come on the lists I sub to and try and pass on quality hints and tips as I run into good sites. The first site is maintained by Tony & Lynda Langham who migrated from England to Australia...but don't let that throw you... the main thing that I want to share about their site: http://onthenet.com.au/~tonylang/Mainpage.html is the OLD OCCUPATIONAL TERMS page: http://onthenet.com.au/~tonylang/Occupa.htm It is WONDERFUL...has to be the largest explanation of OLD OCCUPATIONAL TERMS that I have seen... many, many which are found in our USA ancestors backgrounds....and these terms are collected from a wide range of sources....check it out. Also, if you have any ancestors that may have come from the Manchester & Lancashire areas of England you will want to check out their M&LFHS link...which you can reach from their main page above. While you are at it you will want to look at this site which has a good glossary of terms that the genealogist runs into while researching...good primer for beginner or reminder for the more seasoned... http://www.home.earthlink.net/~genealogyplanet/glossary.html The above glossary page is part of Genealogy Planet...This is the other "WONDERFULLY" done site I found with lots of helpful materials... I ran into it while looking for info on my WEST family line out of TN and also notice info on family lines in Onagra, IL .... http://www.home.earthlink.net/~genealogyplanet/welcome.html ..hope when I get ready to do a website that mine will be as clean, crisp, visually pleasing and informative as this one. Enjoy, Barb in Savannah,GA

    2. MLJac
    3. Hi Cuz;n and others, I just found this information and wonder if any from the Garrison line has any information for me. My Mother's maiden name was DAWS, and as her father Sylvester M. DAWS left her and her mother in 1900 for CA, and "greener pastures" she never forgave him, and would never talk about anyone in the DAWS family. I recently was able to find several members of that family, and was quite surprised to find a living Grandfather that I never knew I had. ( He died in 1942 in CA.) In further research, I find that this Grandfather had other siblings, among them a sister named "Myrtle" After I found a birth record on Myrtle, I found her marriage license that showed she married in Hamilton Co., IL. Daws Myrtle 21 Clarence A. Holland 21 he lived in Franklin Cty married 5-17 1905. Then I next found her enumerated with her Father and Step-Mom on the 1910 US Census, but her husband Clarence or a possible daughter "Myrtle Garnet" was not enumerated. I have been searching for her ever since until today, when I found this entry that was sent to me by a fellow searcher. Daws Myrtle 18 Saline Co., - Amom B. Garrison Saline 22 9-6-1915 ( I suspect that the name "Amom" is a typo for "Amos".........) Does anyone know about this family; what happened to her first husband and daughter, and how about information on Myrtle and Amos ??? Someone must know !! Please check your files, I would be so happy to find a direct line DAWS relative. Thanks, and Good luck in your search. Mary Lou

    3. Violet The last I knew, as just now, many of the marriages after 1825(?) were removed. About 1 month ago I searched HALL, HAILE, CRAVENS, and several more that 'used' to be there but have been gone a few weeks now. Even if this is reinstated, due to the privacy act, they can not do any marriage after 1926. Does anyone know if the marriages after 1830 removed? Thanks! Dianna "Violet E. 3. Dianna, I can still find all of the marriages. Are you looking for just Hamilton Co.? They never had many years to begin with, which is a shame. Make sure you go to; http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html From here you can search many other things also. This is a great state to research in. We should all be very thankful.
