Looking for information on the parents of John Taylor b. 1854-1856 Hamilton Co. IL d. 8 April 1909 Mt.Vernon, Jefferson Co. IL. John married Miss Sarah Catherine Acord 18 Jan 1877 Hamilton, IL in the home of her father Martin Van Buren Acord. John and Catherine were last spoted on the 1880 Hamilton Co. IL census. I have not been able to find John on the 1870 census with his parents. There is a John Taylor listed with Benjamin & Mary Ann Rocket Taylor for the census years for 1860-1870, but I am told that their son John died in 1879. So I am at a loss to where our John Taylor's family was during those years. Like I said I KNOW that John married in 1877 in Hamilton and his mother was there because she gave her consent for him to marry. He was only 20 years old, while Sarah Catherine was 22. On John's obit it states that his brother William Taylor was living in Lovilla, Hamilton Co. IL at the time of John's death in 1909. Anyone here related to this William M. Taylor b. May 1853 his #2 wife was Ida b. April 1869. I believe she was married perviously to a man named Rogers. William was married 1st to a Nancy. This marriage may have ended in divorce. Thanks for your time. Theresa Kingsley Lancaster, CA

Cuz...... Dear Cousins, Here is an opportunity of a life time. Cousin Judy lives in the Southwest and cares for her 95 year old mother. She would love to hear from you'se guys and share her family knowledge. Her family intermingled with my Garvin and Hungate lines. Her Garrisons were quite prolific in the Jefferson/Hamilton county areas. Give her a buzz. Her email address is: chitown55@netzero.net (judy m) Oh yeah, it turns out that Judy and I graduated from the same High School in Chicago, albiet different years!!! ============================================================= I am an idiot, but I cleverly disguise it behind this genius persona...so far it has worked...but this computer thing is 'outing' me...I just don't quite get it. Hope things are going alright for you.....love to get notes from you, as well as updates on what you're up to. never heard from the relatives ......perhaps my e-mails went astray.......if you talk to any from southern Illinois, give 'em my e-address........(my mom was a Talbott, my grandmother was a Garrison)...I was a holy terror! Love, Judy-Cuz xxx000 ======================================================

Help! A few months ago, someone (Trev???) mentioned a family that Maggie Evans, (my ggm) , b Wales 1841, was close with, possibly also back in PA? I made of note of it, but can't find it now. They were also later in Hamilton County. I'm headed to the NARA in the next few days, and wanted to check them out. Anybody remember who it was? I appreciate your help. Joyce Escue Culver
Gggranddad Ashur Cheek, was from Jersey, ILL. Anybody know where it is (was)? Info was from the 1840 Fed Census pg 334. Clay Cheek ~ Seattle Could it have been Jerseyville, ILL., in Jersey County? Or just Jersey Co. ILL.? Jim.

Barb, There is an early land purchase (1836) in White County, IL, for a Sylvester Eveleth... a few Eveleth marriages in White County also...including one for a Martha Eveleth in 1874. Does anyone have the surname EVELET or anything similar in their line(s) in Hamilton Co ? I am trying to figure out a puzzle with a Margaret EVELET and William BECK in 1843...I haven't been able to find any other EVELETs so far..they are reported to have married in Hamilton Co,IL in April of 1843. I am trying to determine if this woman was a.k.a. Martha E. (Gibson) who filed Civil War military pension of William Beck in 1877.. the pension application card shows a William BECK who served in Co K 6th Ill CAV...which was Hamilton Co. unit. My Martha Gibson was married to a William Beck between 1840 and 1850 and was living in Hamilton Co in 1853 for sure..based on land transaction records. There is a William and Martha Beck listed in the 1860 Census..a few dwellings away from some of Martha's sibling Gibsons..I think that these (William and Martha Beck and children) are the correct individuals that I am looking for. The mystery that has me and a couple of others puzzled... Martha was born in TN..but she and children are listed in the 1860 Census as being born in IN. This could be a neighbor's recollection and be an error..I have not found any other reference to them in census records though prior to this or after. It maybe that William was married previously..he is listed as 65 in the 1860 census and born in KY; Martha is listed as 47 or so. The children, Becks, are in their teens. I am finding it difficult to believe this is the same William Beck who was a prvt in the Co K 6th ILL CAV...but could be. Part of the problem is that William L. Beck is reported to have died in 1879 but his "widow" Martha filed for his pension in 1877...uh !! I am hoping to find more on a Margaret EVELET which may shed some light on the mystery surrounding William BECK..who at this point is believed to be William L BECK..married to Martha. Any ideas or anyone knowing of EVELET family in Hamilton Co. or surrounding counties or any surname close in sound or spelling...help! Barb in SAVANNAH,GA ^ ^ (@ @ ) =o= \ | | \ m m n \9 ~O&:>
