Diane and others. I am interested in Oglesby because my distant cousin Fern O'Neal (Knights Prairie area) married Clarence Oglesby and they are still doing pretty well in their mature years outside McLeansboro. But of further interest to me is the fact that my GGGF Henry O'Neal enlisted in the 6th Ill Vol Cav and the guy above him on the roster is an Oglesby. (My files are still in the car after giving a talk to the Exchange Club about CW ancestors so I can't get his first name at the moment.) Then one of Henry's sons, John, enlisted in the 110th Ill Vol Inf in 1862 and just ahead of him on the roster is John (I think) Oglesby. I have not been able to interest Clarence in genealogy, but with a little added information I might. Cousin Fern remembers Uncle John O'Neal and Aunt Marthy so it might be that Clarence will recall some Oglesby old timers if it is the same line. If you don't mind I would appreciate knowing what you come up with. Thanks John O'Neal Embreeville, PA
Good Evening list members, I need help in researching my great, great grandmother, Susie Oglesby (maiden name) who was a daughter of Reubin Oglesby. They lived in or around Dahlgren. If you are researching these people or if they are part of your lines I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Diane Cook Reed
Thanks Neva for helping to fill in more of the puzzle on Edith JOHAN ...probable daughter of Robert Willis Johan and Frances Snow Allen. They were married Sept 11, 1892. Their children were, Oscar, Edith, Robert Jr. and Austin. Robert Willis Johan's "father Julius was a German immigrant and Robert was the only son, so she had to have been the daughter of Robert." Thanks to Betty K. for correction on # 26) Pauline McMuetry should be Pauline McMURTRY [married name WOOLARD] Betty also had additional info on a cousin of Vadah,Thurman and Wiliam GIBSON who was raised by Jacob Henry and Dicy Allen Gibson .. his name was Levi GIBSON, we don't know who his parents were. He (Levi) had a daughter, Lois - deceased - and one son, report as living. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO LEVI GIBSON'S PARENTS WERE? or How to contact his living son?[contact..contact me private on this] Also, #24 Andrew TAYLOR - was a cousin to Vadah,Thurman and William GIBSON.. His mother was Ida (Gibson) TAYLOR, a sister to the above mentioned Levi GIBSON. Ida had other children - Nellie is the only name available...any one have info on IDA GIBSON and who the TAYLOR was she married? Hi Betty, I was gathering info on the students in a photo from the WildCat School that can be seen on the Broughton website at http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.com/~jgholson/school34.htm ...my reason was to try set a time frame and identify the Gibsons in the photo and see if they are related to my Gibson line from Broughton. My ggggrandfather Robert Gibson migrated from TN to IL in the early 1800s and brought with him a "gang" of kids..among whom was my great great grandfather James W. Gibson and several of his brothers...wondering if any of the Gibsons mentioned in the photo caption are related to this Gibson line. You mentioned that Vadah Gibson was your mother..and that Thurman and William her brothers...who where her parents? Grandparents? Would be interested in finding another cousin.... barb in Savannah,GA ----- Original Message ----- From: "MarcoSav" <bmarco_1@bellsouth.net> To: <ILHAMILT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 27, 2001 12:25 PM Subject: [ILHAMILT-L] Need birthdates for WildCat School Students: Allen,Campbell,Gibson,Greer,Hardesty,Harrawood,Hughes,Johann,McMuetry,Pulliam,Scott,Taylor and teacher Kelly and one unknown : Hi all.... : Jim Gholson has a picture on his site of WildCat School in Broughton,Hamilton Co.,Illinois.
