Phyllis really its not someone watching the lists it a worm/virus that is running at a rampart speed thur the email world. It gets email addresses from your email if you are infected and sends itself, the person that is infected doesn't usually know it. So just be very careful, besure your antivirus software is upto date, just incase it is missed be sure to not open an attachment from someone you have not agreed to have mail from. Phyllis and List, My feeling has always been to ask the person, before you send a file, if they would like it and then let them know ahead of time that it is coming. If someone sends me a file and they have not told me before , it goes straight to the garbage. I may miss something and hopefully that will be a virus. Hello list, I am trying to find parents and siblings of JAMES M. McPHEARSON/McPHERSON b. April 1863 in IL, possibly in Hamilton Co. I have no information on his parents or siblings, Would like to know all the information shown for him in 1870 - 1880 Census. Thank you for your help. Evalyn
Does anyone know the parents of Jane Nations or Benjamin Phipps who were married on 10-22-1843 in Hamilton County? They were living with my gggrand parents Thompson and Julia (Webb) Farris in the 1850 census. In the 1860 census a William Phipps age 20 was living with the same Thompson and Julia Farris. I suspect the Phipps and Webbs or Farris were related but I have no idea how. I found many Phipps in White County and found that a Benjamin Phipps was in the 1820 White County census however this can't be the same Benjamin. The Benjarmin living with Thompson and Julia was 26 in 1850 so he was not born until 1824. Another list member has a Mary Phipps who married a Lane and was the mother of the Hamilton County Judge James Lane. Any information on these families will be appreciated.
All the e-mails from noon on the 17th, I did not get, so if they were something you need to know, please e-mail me again. Thanks elvis5@Midwest.net
Hi List, I am trying to find parents and siblings of my g grandmother ELLA WARD b. 1861 in Henderson Co KY.who married David Franklin Sandusky in 1882 in Hamilton Co. Il. He was born 1857 in KY. I think her parents were Thomas Ward and Cecelia Denton -don't know their birth dates or place. Would someone please look for her in 1870 Census. Would also like to know names of others in the household. I don't have names of any siblings for her. Any information will be greatly appreciated Evalyn

Darlene, Thank you very much for finding Phillip and his famly for me. They were in Tennessee in 1860, All 13 of Joseph and Mary Margaret (Houk) Smith children were born in Tennessee -all in Monroe Co.,I think--. The whole family came to Hamilton Co., IL but not all at the same time. Joseph was born 1804 in NC and Mary Margaret(later called Peggy) was born 1806 in either NC or TN. They married in early 1820's- don't know where- Have no idea who their parents or siblings were. All 13 children raised their families in Hamilton Co and all 13 children died in Hamilton Co with the exception of Michael A. Smith . He was in Craighead Co. Ark. in 1900 census, but haven't found him in 1910 or 1920 Census. However he died in Craighead Co. Ark in 1921. They all seem to be playing "hide and seek" , and they seem to be very good at hiding. I notice that "John Coker" is listed as Ass't Marshal. Joseph and Peggy's youngest child, Frances ":Frankie" born in 1850 married a William Lafayette Coker. Thank you again for your help. Evalyn

Hello , Would someone please look for PHILLIP M. SMITH b. 1830 TN and his wife MARY ANN b. 1832 TN. , in the 1870 Census. They should have 4 or 5 children living with them. I think they are somewhere in Hamilton County. Any information would be appreciated. Evalyn
Hi List, I am trying to find a JOHN McCOLGIN ( McCOLGAN ) and wife Mary, with several children in 1870 Hamilton Co. census. They are living in Beaver Creek ( T4 R7E ) in 1860. Thank You, from cloudy Washington, Carolyn Campbell White
There was a Celia Holt living with the Toliver Gholston family on the 1860 White County Census, but there was not a Solomon Holt listed. Did not find a Holt in the 1860 Hamilton County Census. Darlene
Hi everyone, We have been working on the Broughton IL. site:http://spiff.net/~gholson/broughton.htm If you haven't been there lately check out the Broughton Family Photo Albums http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jgholson/brFamilyP.htm These are not links to other people's pages but pages at the site for that person's contribution. We are very pleased and appreciate everything that is being shared with others. The latest contribution has been the page of Silvetta Parson: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jgholson/silvettaPA.htm Please check out the old letters, the letters of Civil War era, The Dr. Edward Dawes Medical Journal - notes 1848 - 1857. Lots of names here of people who came to him for medicine etc. I found it very interesting how they settled their accounts with produce, bacon, livestock, knives, saddles etc. I can fully understand now why he had an interest in a store to convert this to cash. This Journal is in two parts. Also on the page is Public School 1905 list of pupils,Contractor's Time Book 1913 and Gholson & Reeves Day Book #3 1894 - The William W. Gayle Day Book 1869 - 1872 Many names listed in these also. Silvetta says there is more on the way!!
Darrell.. ....the transcription of the 1860 on The Yesterdays in Hamilton County website do not show a Soloman Holt on the index or in the home of any Gholson....however........there is an an unusual listing that you might consider....far afield but perhaps one of the Gholson line could fill you in better.....I know there are several errors/ifs on the 1860.....some in my own lines.....but here is the entry I found interesting... [see http://www.carolyar.com/Illinois/Census/1860-10.htm ] 4 64 64 GHOLSON, Marim F. (or Marins?) 34 M Farmer 2000 500 IL 5 Nancy J. 33 F IL X 6 Sarah A. 7 F IL X 7 Saloma N. 3 F IL <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<this may well be a misread..could be phonetic Soloman...and the sex is wrong but would not discount it....this would make the birth about 1857 if correct or if misread and 13 would be about 1848 or 49...I have a couple of names off the 1860 in my line that are really wild with spelling and dates...the census taker must have had it rough ...know some of the records difficult to read. However, there is a listing for a Soloman Holt in 1860 in Washington Co.,ILLinois..which is NW a couple of counties from Hamilton. It is only an index listing..you would need to locate the film or fiche at an LDS center [Family History Center] or possibly contact someone in Washington Co,IL for a lookup if they have access to a copy. I'm not aware of any complete 1860 for Washington on line yet. I know Ancestry.com doesn't have the images yet..only the index listing that popped up.
