    2. "but the email had copied my message into her email message and then said "Note attachment". I too received an E-mail response from bonnieb to an inquiry which had my message copied into the body and an attachment. I was cautious. But I wanted the information. So I downloaded and came up with a corrupted file, thank goodness. So far I have not seen any problems except my address book/organizer will not open. If you get a suspect E-mail confirm with the sender if it is valid. After the fact I sent bonnieb an e-mail, but have not received a response. Good Luck John O'Neal

    3. This is to tell bonnie b. that her email answering my queries regarding the above is infected with virus. Thank goodness Norton Anti Virus caught both of them. They are different versions of W32Badtrans 13312@mm. Norton Antivirus said one -on Aaron Smith message- was hamster.Zip.scr and the other- on Cynthia Alice Smith reply was news_doc.scr I didn't get email address for "bonnie b." but the email had copied my message into her email message and then said "Note attachment". Please be extra careful and don;t open any attachments, even if it appears to be an answer to your question. Evalyn

    2. Evalyn Turner
    3. Would someone please look for Cynthia Alice (Warfield) Smith b. May 1860 in Indiana In 1900 I think she may have been living with her husband, Enoch Taylor Smith in Hamilton Co. IL. Don't know when she left him and went to Jefferson Co. IL. In 1910 not sure whether she was still in Hamilton Co. IL or in Jefferson Co. IL. If in Jefferson Co. IL, her name may be changed to Alice Rainey In 1920 she would have been living in Jefferson Co. IL. probably as Alice Rainey. She died in Jefferson Co., Mt. Vernon, IL on Nov. 22, 1920 Can someone please help me locate her during this time period.? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Evalyn

    1. [ILHAMILT-L] Lane-Mitchell
    2. I'm looking for other researchers who are working on the Ichabod Mitchell (1790-1874) family. His wife was Mary Lane (1800-1881), daughter of Isaac and Sarah Phipps Lane of Sumner Co. TN. I am seeking descendants who might know the parents of Isaac Lane (b. 1760-70, NC?--died after 1830, TN?), and Mary's siblings. I believe Lewis Lane who married Nancy Dean and Eliza Jane Broyle is Mary's brother. There were other siblings. Any help would be appreciated. Also, there is a picture of Ichabod Mitchell that I would like to add to my photopoint site, if anyone has a scannable image. Ichabod's picture and obituary appear on the site "Yesterdays in Hamilton County IL." To view pictures of Lanes from Hamilton Co., identified and and unidentified: Go to: www.photopoint.com Type in my email address: susanm1215@aol.com Click on Lane Family album Let me know if you can identify any. Thank you. Susan

    2. In the past several months someone on the list was looking for info on Wooldridge. I found this photo in the US Army Military History Institute collection. The web site address is given below. The thing to remember when using this site is to check any and all of the 3 boxes on the search page in order to narrow down the number of finds. 1. [ILHAMILT-L] Attachments and what to do to stop receiving them.
    2. MarcoSav
    3. Shauna...if you are saying that all the messages that you have received are "coming from the same e mail address" and included an attachment [the virus file mentioned concerning advice] then the best thing to do at this point is use your "block" feature on your mail program and block reception of mail from that e mail....be sure and also set up your mail program to empty the delete folder each time you close the program....if the offending mail is coming from a friend's e address.... simply e them and say.. you will not be able to receive any additional mail from them until matter cleared up...because the virus is on "their machine"....even if they are not initiating the message themselves from their address the virus is....automatically...and they need to use a program to "clean" their situation...they may have to acquire another email address "after" cleaning their machine so as not to infect system again and to be able to communicate with those who have put a block on their original e address... hope this explanation helps.... 1. [ILHAMILT-L] ATTACHMENTS
    2. I have a email address just to do lookups for people and it is not listed with any lists that I am aware of. I also have received 20+ emails with and attachment and the note inside saying something about advice. They all have the same email address. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to stop this? I wrote AOL but have not gotten a response. Thank you. Shauna

    1. [ILHAMILT-L] Dear Cousins and List Members
    2. Phyllis Campbell
    3. Dear Cousins and List Members, I have returned from a 5 day trip and found many emails that contain virus infected attachments in them. These all have in some way, some connection to the many genealogy lists that I am on. They are not coming through the lists but will have something in the email that refers to the list and that would make it seem safe to open and also tempting to open because we all want even that little scrap of information. One had Nancy Trice's name on it, two attachments had a connection to Doug Leonard who has done much research and posted it on the web and the other had an email address and the name of one of my cousins who does not have this address anymore and hasn't had for some time. One was from a Barbara Whisenant and this one also had the Doug Leonard attachment. The point I am trying to make is that whoever is doing this is watching these genealogy lists and getting this information. How else would anyone know my connections to these 3 people? I am no longer opening anything that is sent to me like this. If you want to contact me you will have to do it through the list. I am more than happy to share my information BUT I am not chancing these virus infected attachments. This is was written in all the infected emails. You cannot get the virus through the emails, only if you open the attachments. > Hi! How are you? > > I send you this file in order to have your advice > > See you later. Thanks (There is a different name signed on all the emails.) Phyllis Maulding Campbell
