Phyllis, truly incredible -- mine is not as outstanding as yours since you are both in W.VA, but Ambrose is also my 4th gr.grandfather (w/Mary Purdy) and a few years ago I was at a Bible study/dinner w/my Sunday School class in Florissant, MO, and my Mother was visiting from Jefferson Co., Moores Prairie Twp., IL. One of my classmates wanted to be polite so he went up to my Mother and asked where she was from. When she identified that she was from Jeff. Co. but her husband was born and raised in Ham. Co., he stated that his ancestry was from Ham. Co., Ambrose Maulding. I took a sharp breath and told him that in that case we were cousins (1/2 since he is through Peggy). That was about 15 years ago and to this day he calls me "Cuz". Thanks for sharing. Just proves that we are truly related to more of our acquaintances than we can possibly realize. Also interesting that descendants are returning to the beginning areas. I am looking for greatgrandparents. They may have been in Hamilton County by 1890. Their names are Thomas Allen and Mintis or Arminta. They may have one child or two. Levi or Magnolia. If not there, maybe Saline County. Thanks, Bobee

Steve, I connect to Edmund Baker through his daughter Almira/Gemima. She married (1) Joseph Dillon and (2) Thomas M. Vaughn. The second marriage took place 1 Jun 1873 in Saline Co. and produced one child (that I'm aware of), Laury E. Vaughn. Almira died 16 Sep 1887 in Eldorado, IL. Almira's marriage to Joseph Dillon produced six children. I have court papers appointing her as their guardian in 1873, after Joseph's death. At least one of the children later sued her for mishandling the estate. I also have her estate papers, filed by Thomas Vaughn. James Baker, b 1840, served in the same regiment during the Civil War as Joseph Dillon. I have a copy of the Muster and Descriptive Roll of Company F, Sixth Cavalry Rgt. of IL Volunteers. It shows James as married, age 21, 6'1" tall. Melinda Hult
