URGENT REQUEST!: Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address. Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions. It is not copyrighted. Kathy kathyhoeldke@sympatico.ca ldyk@hotmail.ca

Would some one please look for, Merle Carey, born September 1899- -Hamilton Co. IL. His fathers name may be James Carey and his mother , Pearlie. , but not sure. I don't know their ages. Thank you in advance. Would appreciate any information , Evalyn
Hi Curtis, Welcome to the Hamilton Co. list. I got behind in reading my emails over Christmas holidays and am trying to catch up. I had a great uncle named MERLE CAREY, born September 2, 1899 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co. I think he was a son of James Carey and Pearlie Prather Carey. Merle died March 4, 1980 in Bloomington, McLean Co. IL. He married Lillian Susan Sandusky who was born December 25, 1900 on November 13, 1920 in Hamilton Co. They had 2 children, Edwin and Diana,I think both were born in Bloomington, McLean Co. IL. This is all the information that I have for Merle Carey. If you or anyone on the list has any further information to share, it would certainly be appreciated. Hi, I recently traveled to Hamilton County and shot photos of the New Hope and Mary's Chapel Cemetery. I focused on the Carey family at bother cemeteries. I have not scanned the photos yet, but will soon and was looking for a good place to post them on the web. Anyone have advice on where they would do the most good? Also, I am very interested in getting old photos of any of the Carey's living in Hamilton County, as well as civil war photos of the Illinois 87th and 155th Regiments. Cheers Curtis Carey
By any chance does anybody have a photo of Concord Methodist Church in Hamilton? And--a picture of the outside of Sneed Cemetery? I know, I am asking for longshots! I appreciate all the help this list gives me! Susan Stewart
