Tarena Marie French and Ian Brett Mellington were united in marriage Dec. 12, 2009, at L'Eglise in Lafayette, La. The bride is the daughter of Daniel and Cynthia Mitchell of McLeansboro and the granddaughter of Glenda and the late Lyle Schaefer. The groom is the son of Brett and Donna Mellington of Lafayette, La., and the grandson of Lyle and Daisy Mellington and the late Tony and Agnes Breaux. The bride was escorted by both her father and mother. She wore an elegant ivory, A-line, strapless satin gown; it was complemented with a one-layered elbow-length ivory veil. She carried a gorgeous bouquet of roses and tulips. Serving as matron of honor was Kay Hoffman. Bridesmaids were Corinth French, sister of the bride, Whitney Johnston, Tiffany Richard and April Gauthier. Serving as best man was Eric Mellington, brother of the groom. Wedding: Feather - Trotter Cathy Feather of Wayne City and Adam Trotter of Dahlgren were united in marriage Jan. 2, 2010, at Wayne City Baptist Church. The 10 a.m. ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Ron Trotter. Cathy is the daughter of Nick and Barbara Feather of Wayne City. Adam's parents are Ron and René Trotter of Dahlgren. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a lovely strapless gown embellished in tiny beads, and an elbow-length veil with scalloped edges. She chose Jill Feather of Evansville, Ind., her sister, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Emma Talbert of Wayne City, friend of the bride, and Sarah Trotter of Dahlgren, sister of the groom. Serving as flower girl was Madelyn Caudle of Wayne City, cousin of the bride. The groom chose his brother, Aaron Trotter of Dahlgren, as his best man. Groomsmen were Brandon Miller of McLeansboro, cousin of the groom, and Mark Feather of Wayne City, brother of the bride. Hank Barker of Ewing, cousin of the groom, was the ring bearer. A reception was held at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church for friends and family. The newlyweds enjoyed their honeymoon in the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. The bride is a 2007 graduate of Wayne City High School and is currently attending Rend Lake College for an associate's degree in nursing. McLEANSBORO - Hamilton Memorial Hospital District Nursing Center resident Fay Poore is still celebrating. In 2008, Mayor Dick Deitz honored the centenarian with a key to the city as he read to her the proclamation bestowed in her honor. And this past Feb. 23, friends, and family acknowledged her 102nd birthday with cake and ice cream.
Roger O. Hollister, 67, of Rantoul, passed away at his home on the evening of Thursday, March 4, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services were Monday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove, Rantoul; Tom D. Wheeler officiated. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul. Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, was in charge of arrangements. Roger was born Feb. 24, 1943, in McLeansboro, a son of Eldon and Thelma (Johnson) Hollister. He married Betty (Trotter) Tuttle on Aug. 6, 1977, in Urbana; she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Kendall (Khrissy) Hollister of Carterville and Chris Tuttle of Champaign; a daughter, Kendra (Wayne) Taylor of Carterville; three grandchildren, Macey and Brittan Hollister of Carterville and Travis Taylor of Carterville; his father, Eldon, of Rantoul; an uncle, Vernon Hollister of McLeansboro; and many friends, students and former players whom he considered family. He was preceded in death by his mother. Roger graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree. He was employed by Rantoul City Schools for 35 years as a teacher and basketball, baseball, track and cross country coach. Coach Hollister was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and was a charter member of "R.O.O.F." He was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro. His hobbies included the St. Louis Cardinals, Illini sports and the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed horses, spending time with family and traveling. Lyle was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Buffalo Hart, the son of Jessie Lyle and Ruth Pauline (Burris) Conner. He married Wilma Joyce Shelton on Jan. 24, 1960. Lyle was a carpenter, working out of the Mount Vernon Local Union 636. He was also a member of the Springfield Local Union 16. Her parents, husband, great grandson: Billy Morrison, infant sister: Frances Adams, sister: Beulah Tate, nephew: Marty Metheny and wife Sara, nephew: Timothy Williams, nephew: Howard Williams, Jr., four brothers-in-law: Lowell Metheny, Francis Tate, Howard Williams and Loyd Williams preceded her in death. Lorena was a member of East Side Baptist Church, Crossroads Community Hospital Auxiliary and also managed the gift shop at the hospital FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Union Cemetery in Hamilton County, Illinois. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M.. on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
