    3. I think the source of the errant 1934 birth date for Mary Elizabeth "Betty" is the Hutchcraft book. However, Betty was definitely born 9 Nov 1931 as indicated in her obituary and her SSDI record (name listed as Mary E. Allen), and she was older than Charlie. I knew Betty and, as a kid, we used to go visit her and her family in Effingham. Otha and Ellen divorced in either 1933 or 1934. 3. Charlie was my step-grandfather, although I grew up calling him grandpa. We had a wonderful service for him last Tuesday. His wife (my grandmother), Gladys M. (Bell) Woodruff Hutchcraft, died exactly 7 weeks earlier. Charlie was the son of Ellen Elizabeth Harrelson. His birth certificate lists his father as Otha Hutchcraft. Otha and Ellen officially divorced soon after Charlie's birth and Ellen then soon married Thomas Abraham "Abe" Parker. Charlie was then raised as a Parker by Abe and Ellen who subsequently had several more children. Charlie changed his name back to Hutchcraft upon entering the service for the Korean War and discovering that his birth certificate listed his name as Hutchcraft. So, he spent the rest of his life as a Hutchcraft. Besides his younger Parker siblings, he had an older brother James Logan Hutchcraft and an older sister Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Hutchcraft Allen Pettis, both deceased. We have done Hutchcraft and Parker Y-DNA testing. If anyone is interested in this aspect of the Hutchcraft or Parker ancestry, let me know.
