My information from Biographical and Gen. Record of La. and Grundy County, Volume, II 1900 says Elwood Coles was living in Greenfield township. His sister, Jessie Clover was living in Morris, and his brothers Herbert M. and Nathan E. were both living in Morris. I think their father John Coles was a rather prominent settler of Gardener. He was a Justice of the Peace, on the School Board, I think he came in 1857... and was a shoemaker. John had two wifes, the first was Mary Elizabeth Hart who was the mother of five children... she died in 1861. He then married Martha J. Sutton Dunmore (a widow) and they had four more children. Elwood was the oldest of the latter four and he died in 1905 or 1906. One of Elwood's sisters married a Edward L. Clover. I 1870 Federal census has the VandeBogert's living in Braceville Township. I just found a letter I received from Jane Cambell, Will-Grundy Genealogical Society... in 1993. She says according to the Morris Library's Cemetery File, the following are buried in Wheeler: John H. Coles Mary Elizabeth Coles Martha J. Coles Elwood Coles The Same file lists the following in Braceville-Gardner... (is this a different cemetary? Mathew E. Van de Bogert, Jan 26, 1826 - Dec. 1893 Viola Van de Bogert died Oct 22, 1878, aged 21 years Van de Bogert Aged 20 yrs. 3 mo. Let me know again, if these are two separate cemetaries... and if you know if there is a way we can know where these people lived. Thanks, Claude
