    1. [ILGRUNDY-L] New Postings on Grundy County IL
    2. If you haven't visited the Grundy County website in the last week or so, here are the latest additions: 1907 Minooka Fire Department Names - If you are ever in Grundy County, visit the Three Rivers Library in Minooka. The historical room that Michele Houchins maintains is in the basement of the library. You will find a picture on display of the 1907 Minooka Fire Department among many other things. Grundy Farmers C-G Phoenix Advertiser featuring Minooka News which contains many surnames including some births, marriages, deaths, area news. (portions of 1903 and 1906 are posted on Grundy) Coming soon: I purchased a bunch of old photos from an antique store a couple of weeks. Some of these photos are identified, but most are not. I will be posting these to the Lost & Found section of Grundy County as soon as I can get them online. I spent yesterday scanning them and reducing them using a jgp reduction program to save bandwidth and load time, but some of them are still very large files. Michele from Three Rivers Library in Minooka has supplied me with a ton of info that I am still working on. I still have a gigantic stack of Phoenix Advertiser "Minooka News" to type since it will not scan. Some of the copies are very bad. My family and I have spent a few weekends driving around Grundy County mostly to familiarize myself with the area and to learn more about it. We have stopped at nearly every cemetery that we have passed. I have taken 12 rolls of pictures mostly of older headstones that I have found at these cemeteries. As I get time, I will post the info from the headstone to a page for individual cemetery listings. Some of the cemeteries in Grundy County have not been recorded. Gather up your cemetery information and submit it to me and I will post it to the website. Perhaps we can come up with as accurate of a listing for each of the cemeteries as possible. Please keep in mind that many of the older headstones have been destroyed by either age, weather, or vandalism and that info may no longer exist except in your family notes. I need your help!!! Submit your info to me and let's get it posted online. I am looking for any public domain material such as, birth, marriage, death, census, records, early settlers of Grundy County bios. Basically any Grundy County info that you might think would be helpful to others as long as it does not hold a copyright. I will be working on material mainly on weekends for the website due to my working full time during the week. If you send me email during the week, chances are that it will not be answered until the weekend. If anyone currently lives in Grundy County, please contact me. Have a great Labor Day!! Deb
