Greetings: My wife and I are going to be in Grundy County on October 2nd. Her mother was born in Gardner, the daughter of Elwood Coles and Laney VandeBogert. Elwood was the son of John Coles and Martha Sutton and Laney Alice VandeBogert was the daughter of Matthew VandeBogert and Anna Welch. I think Elwood, John, Martha, Matthew and Anna are all buried in the Wheeler cemetary. Is the Wheeler cemetary the resting place for most Gardener and Braceville residents? I also need to know how to get to the cemetary and if there is an office that has burial records and the location of graves. It would also be great if we could locate any old maps of the area in about the 1880 vintage that shows exactly where residents lived. Does such a map exist... and if so, where could I see one when I get there. I would also like to communicate with anyone who is researching the Coles, Vandebogert, or Sutton families in Grundy County. Thanks. Look forward to hearing from someone. We just have the day of Friday to spend in the county and want to make to make it a great day, genealogically speaking! Thanks, Claude Hanson ------------------------------------- Name: Claude A.
