She had been an invalid for many years and for a long period had been a patient in the Dena Erickson home. Her body was taken to the Hoganson funeral home and will remain there until Monday morning. Services will be held at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception church and burial will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery. She was born in Morris, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Kinney. She was better known as Bessie Kinney and was married to Charles Vermett. She is survived by a son, Thomas. During her active life she lived at 812 East Main street, the home of her parents and until her health failed was a faithful member of the Catholic church. (pall bearers were Richard Sharp, Michael Sharp, Lawrence Kenney, James Trenter, Michael Drinan, Otto Spiffler) Grundy Co, IL marriage certificate #6511. Charles A. Vermett of Aux Sable, farmer, French Am., born Aux Sable, age 28, son of Chas & Mrs. Chas. Vermett; married Mary Elizabeth Kinney of Morris, age 28, Irish Am., born Morris, daughter of Patrick Kinney & Mary Cuttlan (?) at Morris 20 Jan 1891. "Morris Daily Herald", Mon, Dec 21, 1918 (resume) Charles Kinney Vermett died Sat., at the home of his mother Mrs. Bessie Kinney-Vermett, East Main street, after an illness of about two years from tuberculosis. Born Morris--would have been 27 Nov 3. Besides mother, leaves a brother Thomas. Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Morris, IL section 20, lot 8 Bessie Vermett died Dec 14, 1945, aged 88 Charles Vermett Nov 3, 1892-Oct 19, 1918 (error on stone--he was born in 1891) Thomas Vermett Feb 13, 1893- (blank) I would guess that Bessie & Charles were divorced--or at least permanently separated.
