He died Goodfarm Twp, Grundy Co, IL, on 13 May 1884, age 70 yrs 6 ms 2 ds. He was born in Penn. He was a shoemaker. He had been in the state for 31 yrs. He was single. He died of peritonities. He is buried in Ward Cem, Mazon Twp, Grundy Co, IL. He has a stone at Ward Cem. It says Joseph Handlen born Jan 1, 1813; d. June 1, 1884. No stone is recorded in any Grundy Co. cemeteries. I checked cemeteries in Kendall County that are near Nettle Creek Twp, but there is no stone listed there. She could have been buried in LaSalle Co, but I would have thought that she and Joseph would have been buried in the same cemetery. I probably should recheck that death date for Joseph. I wonder if it should have been May 31.
