Hexdall, 83, rural Gardner, died early Tuesday morning, Nov 24, 1987, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fruland Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Webb officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born Sept 8, 1904, in Saratoga Township, he was a son of Hans and Martha (Hauge) Hexdall. He was raised and received his education in Saratoga Twp. On Feb 18, 1938, he married Alice Granville. They farmed all their married life in Saratoga Township until 1962 when they farmed in Garfield Township. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Hexdall of Peoria; three sons, Thomas of Sandwich, Mass., Jim of rural Gardner and David of Lincoln; one grandson; one brother, Chester of Morris; a sister, Mrs. Marvin (Mildred) Williamson of Morris; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife in 1972; a son Paul in 1975; a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Etta) Friestad; and three brothers, Harry, Russell and Obie. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dwight and the Grundy County Farm Bureau. When Russell Hexdall's wife Ruth d. Morris, IL Sept 5, 2000, she was survived by a daughter Virginia (Jack) Sharpe of Park City, IL; 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildred. Her husband died 1966, her daughter Nancy Smith in 1997. (resume) Nancy J. Smith, 56, formerly of Morris died Wednesday Aug 6, 1997, at the Beloit Memorial Hospital (WI). She was born Sept 16, 1940 in Morris daughter of Russell & Ruth Darnell Hexdall. Surviving are her mother, a daughter Jill (Gary) Cofoid of Beloit, 2 sons Michael (Darcia) Smith of Beloit & Todd (Deborah) Smith of Tampa, Fla, 2 grandchildren Tyler & Kelly Smith, 1 sister Virginia (Jack) Sharpe of Park City, IL, & a nephew Dennis Sharpe of Los Angeles, CA. Preceded in death by her father. Who was your mother? My mother went to school with Alice & Ruth Granville.
