    3. James and Sarah THOMPSON lived for 30 years in Nettle Creek, Grundy Co. 1845 to 1875. James THOMPSON was born 12 Sep 1811 and died 01 Aug 1877 in Newton Co, Indiana, according to cemetery records. In the censuses, he stated that he was born in Maryland. His wife, Sarah, was born in Mercer Co, Pennsylvania on 08 March 1819. She died 16 February 1905 in Newton Co, Indiana. Her death certificate lists her father's name as just "LONGHEAD" and says he was born in Ireland. Apparently he served in the Revolutionary War. Both James and Sarah are buried in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland, Newton Co, Indiana. James & Sarah were married in 1838. (I'm assuming the marriage took place in Pennsylvania.) Sarah's obit says that they moved to Grundy Co, Illinois in 1845. In 1875 they moved to Newton Co, Indiana. Their children, listed in various censuses, were: Emeline/Amelia, Franklin, (Margaret?), Elma/Emma. Electra, George, Eunice, Mary/Clara, Albert, Melva. Some died at an early age. Their daughter, Emma/Elma, was born in 1850 in Nettle Creek. On 07 April 1875, she married Robert VONDERSMITH in Nettle Creek. I would appreciate any additional information on this family. Thank you!
