My husband's maternal grandmother was Mary (Thomasina) Perona who was from the Diamond/Coal City area. She had several sisters. Her sister Kate married a Gomora who we knew as Uncle Meenie. I think he was Dominic. Don't know of another sister married into the Gomora family. Mary Perona married Dominic Bombassaro and they had 3 children, Dolores Catalani, Margaret VeneKlasen and Bernard Bombassaro.We think her roots were in the Piedmont area. The names Valerio and Fenoglio are also familiar. Seems as though we may have information to share and I would love to finish the Perona tree.
