I don't see much about him. He was a bookkeeper & then cashier in a bank. The only references to the family in the newspaper files are as follows: A. Root elected school trustee, Greenfield Twp 13 Apr 1888 A. W. Root passes away March 2, 1915 Mrs. A. W. Root passes away June 3, 1931 Albian R. Root nominated school trustee 4 Apr 1879 Albian R. A widower, born Bone, NY; in state of IL 39 years. Died from enlargement of the heart, renal failure. Buried Horse Creek Cem, Kankakee Co, IL "Morris Daily Herald", Morris, IL Wed, March 21, 1951 Florian Root, formerly of Gardner, died early today in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bethel Sytrahl in Cullom, it was learned here today. Funeral services will be conducted in a funeral home at Cullom Friday at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Root was preceded in death by his wife five years ago. Surviving are the daughter and a son Paul Root, of Chicago. He was an uncle of Robert White of Morris. "Morris Daily Herald", Wed, March 3, 1915 Gardner. A. W. Root resident of this city for several years passed away at his home here last evening. The cause of death was paralysis from which the deceased had suffered for nearly two years. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Claude of South Bend, Ind, and F. L. of Gardner, cashier of the First National Bank. "Morris Daily Herald", Wed. June 3, 1931 Mrs. A. W. Root, who was 94 years old last December 16 died this morning in her home in Gardner following a stroke which she suffered last Thursday. Up to that time, despite her advanced years, Mrs. Root, who was familiarly called "Nancy" Root, was able to be about her home daily take care of her meals and do most of the light household work. She was a resident of Grundy county for a great many years, and she and her husband occupied a farm east of Gardner. They moved to the village where her husband died several years ago following a stroke which left him helpless for a long time. She leaves two sons Florian L. Root who was a Gardner banker now of Kewanna, Ind. and Claude of Chicago. Funeral arrangements have not been made. I didn't find any obituary for Carrie Root or for Paul Root. I am assuming that the Illinois Marriage Index referring to Alberno Root who married Nancy Bates 16 Dec 1860 in DeKalb Co, IL is Albern. In the 1870 census of Greenfield Twp, Grundy Co, Florian is referred to as Flora M., age 5, female. By the 1880, he is Florian & working on the farm & is a son. In 1900 he is in the village of Gardner, Greenfield Twp & is a bookkeeper. The daughter was born after the 1900 census was taken. I did not look at the 1910 census. Lea
