He is getting a court order or something on 7/4 which will give him the authority to cremate Mr. Effting. Sorta sad, eh? I am excited. I just found your story of Frank J. Effting when my son discovered the website. I have been looking for Efftings for several years, but just Tuesday was galvanized into action when I received a phone call from a mortician in Eldon, MO, looking for ANY family of Charles Edward Effting, age 76, who died there a few days ago. He said the man's friends said he had a son who died a few years ago, and his mother Clara is buried in the Mt. Olive cemetery in Chicago. On the off chance you might know someone in that branch, I am writing to you. My part of the Efftings is that a Frank Effting married Mary Fleck (both from Germany) lived in Lockport, IL and had my grandmother, Theresa Josephine Effting (born in Lockport on 4/6/1861'ish), who married Charles Wesley Penniman and had my mother Josephine Penniman Cox (born in Ft. Scott, KS in 1894). Does any of that ring a bell with you? I understand there are several Frank Efftings, one of which is the son of the above Frank and Mary and which seems to be the one you hail from. Would he be a brother to my grandmother Theresa? What I can't seem to find is where in Germany Frank and Mary came from. Any ideas? Would love to hear from you. Mary Jo -- Mary Jo Capps mjo@viclink.com
