Robert, I am very interested in the history of the Baptist churches in the same area. Two of my lines, Emmons and Caudle seemed to travel with some other families and they were Baptist in North Carolina and in Tennessee but when the families got to Wayne Co. Illinois, they were part of something callled the reformation movement here in this county in the 1800's, that uses the words Christian Churches...( is that Christian as in believing in Christ or a denomination of churches?) but when they get to Macoupin it is again Baptist. I am interested in the reformation movement and what it was about. My Emmons and Caudle lines lived near Scottville. Scottville area includes some Macoupin as well as Greene. Several family members were ministers...some ordained...some not. Macoupin has a link on churches...you prob. have seen it. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmacoup/m_church.htm I will try to find the reformation movement reference which has a table for each county if you have not seen it. betty At 09:38 PM 12/10/2000 -0600, you wrote: >Hi.
