Sorry to take so long to respond. When that happens to me, I forget what the question was. It was this in response to my questions about Davis, Hall and Wood. <<comparing notes and asking questions! I'll keep my eyes open for any info. about Lovelace or Hall in NC. Where does the Wood name come in?>> Delia, wife of my mysterious James Allen is called Delia W. Davis in some documents. In 1860, 2 women are censused in James' and Delia's household--Eveline Hall, age 19 and Clarissa Wood, age 36. (One has to look at the real census to find this, for it has not been included in compilations.) I took a "flyer" while at Salt Lake City last spring and found a marriage between Clarissa Davis and George Wood that occurred earlier--have the document but it's not right at hand. It explained who she might be, anyway and why she might be in that household--related to Delia. I could find no similar situation for Eveline. Perhaps she was a young widow--maiden name either Davis or Hall, I thought. Especially since there are so many Halls and Davis and Allen's and none of these seem to hitch up. I'm taking every message on these families and going to try to make some kind of chart to see if something will expose itself. Grasping (and gasping) at straws............. Jan
