The Solomon Baines (1805-1883) who was killed hopping a freight in 1883 was the son of Robert Baines (1773-1848). I don't think the Solomon Baines (1857-1909) who was the son of Charles Baines Jr. (1798-1856) and Jane Townsend Milnes Baines (1819-1896) had any children, since neither a wife nor children were mentioned in his obituary. I don't do much work on the Baines family since I'm not sure how I'm related. Robert Baines might have been a uncle/brother/cousin of my ancestor Hannah Baines Meek. I started working on the Baines family a bit, but gave up at the colorful Solomon Baines (1805-1883) who had 28 children & I don't know how many wives, but he married his last wife twice (Rachel F. Jones). She divorced him & he declared that he would not support her or their children, so she promptly married him again. If you ever figure out the family, let me know.
