I'd like to put in my word for my Davis family who were in Greene Co., Apple Creek area, in at least the 1830's. They were connected by marriage with Morrow and Lovelace and Bell families also. They were from North Carolina before coming to Illinois. If anyone comes across references to John Davis, William J. Davis (may appear as W. Jackson Davis), James Davis,(may appear as James Davis Sr.), Ransom Davis, James Arthur Davis, Thomas Davis) would love to know what you've found. And I'll share information that I have. There was an Apple Creek Precinct in the Greene Co. census of 1850 I believe. I don't know it's boundaries, but my ancestor Jesse W. Hicks lived in it, and he lived just east of Athensville, nearly on the Macoupin Co. line, and Apple Creek rolled right by his farm. Juli Claussen
