Dear Mr. Webb and Mr. Murray, I have been very interested in the Primitive Baptist Church, the Reformation movement, and how some of my ancestors (Emmons and Caudles) that I find in my geneological searches might have been members, Elders, and/or involved. Some of the Caudles came from North Carolina through Tennessee to Macoupin Co. Illinois then Wayne co. Illinois and some back to Macoupin... There was a Joshua Caudle who was b. about 1770 in Chatham N.C. Joshua moved to Maury/Marshall Co. Tenn and was deacon of the Shiloh (Rock Creek) Baptist Church. One of Joshua's daughters Martha mrried a William Turner and they were married by a Sion Record. Sion Record also was gave a statement in support of the war pension for Martha Caudle Turner after her husband died. One of Joshua Caudle's grandsons was named Sion Record Caudle. I am wondering if John Record is of the same family as Sion Record. My premise is that several families who were Baptist to the core came from NC together to Maurey Co. Tenn. and then to Illinois. Some of the family members got caught up in the Reformation movement and joined church of Christ and even one joined the Latter day Saints. ...Joshua Caudle bought land in Macoupin Co. Illinois in 1834-36. and not too long after had land in Wayne Co., Illinois. I believe one of his grandson Isaac Caudle was a preacher in a primitive baptist church somewhere around Scottville, Illinois which is in Macoupin or Greene counties. None of this may make sense to you..my question in a nut shell is....was Elder Record mentioned below...part of the Record family that was in Maurey Co. Tenn and active in the Shiloh Church??
