I don't know who the parents and other ancestors of Fountain area. I thought for years that all the Pruitt's in Madison, Macoupin, Jersey, Greene, Calhoun and Montgomery counties in IL were descendants of Martin Pruitt who came from VA via TN in 1806 however this family just proved that to be incorrect as well as there are other families in these counties who are associated with KY prior to coming to IL. I placed a query on the Pruitt mail list but to date have not seen any response. Must be one of those elusive Pruitt's who is not that well known. I'd be interested in locating his obit to see who his parents were as that may help in finding the link to the rest of the Pruitt family. I can't think of any other reason that he would have come to Greene Co to settle if there were no relatives around to lure him there.
