Hi, all, The Illinois State Archives suspended sending out free death certificates for all orders received after 15 Nov 2002. They will continue to fill the orders received prior to that date (as of 19 Nov 2002, they were 19,000 request behind). The only way certificates can be obtained now from the Illinois State Archives is to go there in person. The non-certified copies that cost $10.00 can be obtained from the Illinois Department of Public Health, not the State Archives. Each county also has its own rules/fees for sending out copies of these certificates. If anyone is interested in having me get death certificates for 1916 through 1947 from the Illinois State Archives, I will be going there next week. I was just recently at the Illinois State Archives and they are very good people to work with. The first two copies are free and any additional copies are .50 cents each.
