Jim >> Hi, Jim, I talked to the librarian there a couple of days ago. They have a large index card file with names found in the newspaper articles from 1860 on. Obviously, the older the paper, the less complete the card file is, but it is a great resource. At one time we had a link on the page that referred to this file as the "Stout files", but the library said that the only Stout connection is that the surname shows up in the file. I did add a note about the file on the White Hall library listing on our Libraries web page. If anyone has a hankering to do a project, how about transcribing this file? Wish I lived closer so I could start on it at least. Jeannie Smith http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilgreene/green.htm

    3. I would be glad to do some transcription over the winter (stuck indoors) if someone could scan the material into a jpg file to send me--similar to what Marty Crull has his volunteer transcriptionists doing. I had Reno and Backus relatives in the White Hall area end of 1800's so would be glad to help this project along.
