Dear Suzanne, I was pleased to see the bio on Arthur Davis from the Greene Co. biography site, as you were. I think that Arthur's father, James Davis, is a common ancestor to us both. I have very strong feelings that this James Davis was related to my John Davis (b. 1809 in NC), maybe an uncle or cousin. If true, this could make my John Davis a possible cousin to your Arthur. I believe that my John Davis had land near to James Davis Sr. in Greene Co. This James Davis (b. 1780 and married to Jane Morrow) (whom I think was also called James Davis Sr.) is a brick wall for me. Eventually I may ask a Rowan Co. NC researcher to check this out, but I'm trying to put together more facts before hiring someone. I think that the James Davis (James Davis Jr.) who married Elizabeth Morrow was either a brother or cousin to James Davis Sr. I wonder if the name of the father of James Davis. Sr. might have been Arthur also. The name Arthur certainly shows up in the family a lot, including my direct Davis line.
