Is there a format that is best to use when sending material for the archives? >> Hi, Tom, ILGenWeb has a page for submitting documents and pictures. <http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/il/ilfiles.htm#instructions> What happens when you submit is that the photos or files go onto the Greene Co. Database (Archives) page into the "miscellaneous" section, with an email link to you, the submitter. I agree that it would be nice to have a photo page. There must be some way to write html code to pull the photo images out of the database and put them into a separate page. I'll look into it. Meanwhile, go ahead and post your files on the ILGenWeb page. And you might want to let the list know that you've posted, too. Here's what they say about what kind of images to submit: "In addition to text files, the Archives are now accepting scans of records. These submissions must be saved in the following formats in order to be best used on the internet: .jpg, .jpeg, or .tif. Most scanner programs have the ability to "Save As" to these formats if it does not use these formats." Hope this helps, Jeannie Smith List Coord. for ILGreene-L@rootsweb.com Co.
