Leave it the way it is now, I think. It would help, when members want to say "thanks for the info, or something similar if they would be careful to send it just to person, not to the whole list though. NO on attaching the message board list to this list....I belong to several lists that do that, and almost every one sends the same message to both, so it just doubles everything up.
