Inquiry about FRY and EARL families in Illinois- Elizabeth Sarah Turney married William Douglas Fry on Nov. 6, 1839. they were married by Hiram Foote, Minister, Will County, ILL. apparently William FRY died before 1850 in Will County. Eliza/Elizabeth Sarah remarries- 1850- Re-marriage-EARL, WILLIAM G married to FRY, ELIZA S WILL 04/24/1850 / 00001259 They then are listed in the 1860 census in La Salle Co. Illinois- EARL, WILLIAM G. State: IL Year: 1860 County: La Salle County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule Township: Ottawa Page: 472 Right underneath Theodore Hay family with Emily Fry (Eliza's sister) and Jacob-family #4241- William and Eliza are family #4243 taken 19 July 1860 in Ottawa by Asst. Marshall William G. Earl (he was an Asst. Marshall and painter) William G. EARL/41/painter/1500/200/Mass Eliza/wife/36/born ILL Charles B./9/ILL-born 1851 James T./7/ILL-born 1853 Geoge C./3/ILL-born 1857 -1862- William in Civil War-Earl William G. F 53 Illinois Infantry. Sergeant 1 Lieutenant Union -William G Earl Residence: Ottawa, Illinois Occupation: Service Record: Enlisted as a Lieutenant 2nd Class on 01 January 1862 Commission in Company F, 53rd Infantry Regiment Illinois =Union> on 01 January 1862. Promoted to Full Lieutenant 1st Class on 23 May 1862 (Not Mustered) Resigned Company F, 53rd Infantry Regiment Illinois =Union on 18 November 1862. After this the family "disappears"- We think William later worked on the railroad. Does anyone out there have access to an 1870 ILL census index to tell if these folks are still in the state or if the kids died, etc. We'd really appreciate any help, Karen Skysilver2000@charter.net
