Licenses were supposed to be done prior to 1874, but not everyone bothered with getting the license. Also not until later, maybe a little before 1890 was the couple asked to fill out information about age, place of birth, parents names, etc. Even then some people did not bother to complete the questions. I really had hopes of getting some information a couple, but when I checked the reverse side of the license, they had not filled it in and apparently the clerk did not check or ask them to do so.
