    3. Betty, I would have to go back into the film of Apple Creek Association of Illinois, as Shiloah Church was a charter member of that body in 1830. Probably Elder John Record was a member of Shiloah between 1830-1838 sometime. I also show he was a member of the Concord Church southeast of Palmyra, in 1836. In 1838 he was a member of Rock Spring Church, Macoupin Co. Sometime in 1839 he and his wife Lucy W. Record joined the Liberty church near Curran in Sangamon Co. In 1841 he was a member of Union Church at Barrow, in Greene Co. (where our friend Ed Murray's ancestor Elder Allen W. Murray was also a member). My history of Friendship Church in Winchester (Scott Co.) indicates he served as pastor there from 1846 till 1858, but I don't have the records to be able to verify that. He is a little hard to keep track of, isn't he? Also, I just noticed something else that will interest you. In the Concord Association minutes of 1841 Isham Caudle is listed as a messenger from Shiloah Church. In 1842 Isham Caudle was a messenger from Union Church (in or near Barrow), and J. Caudle (Joshua?) was a messenger from Shiloah Church, which BTW had 47 members, and Union had 92 members that year. In 1843 and 1844 Isham Caudle is listed as a messenger from Shiloah Church again, but that is the last reference to the Caudle name that I noticed. In 1847 Elder John Record was a messenger from Union Church, but I don't see him again in 1848 or any other year I check up through 1858. He may have moved his membership to Friendship at Winchester. The first time I ever tried to preach, was at Friendship Church. Their wonderful pastor (J. Bryan Adair) had just died suddenly, and they asked me to come and hold a service. That was in April 1976. I will never forget that. Sorry for the errors in what I wrote before. 3. Thank-you for all this information. Please keep your eyes open for the Emmons name also...I feel certain they were members of some of these churches. I will reread everything when I get back and see what information I have or can find from relatives. betty At 03:11 PM 1/3/2001 -0600, you wrote: >Betty, > I would have to go back into the film of Apple Creek Association of >Illinois, as Shiloah Church was a charter member of that body in 1830. >Probably Elder John Record was a member of Shiloah between 1830-1838 >sometime. 3. Robert, Betty, and others, I have been following the discussion of the Primitive Baptist Church and Elders John Record and Elder Caudle with interest. I'm not sure how this may fit, but my ancestor, b. 1819 in TN and settled just SW of Scottville was named John Record Arnold. Also, his dau. Avia Arnold was married in 1870 to Noah Edwards in Macoupin Co. by "J.C. Caudle, Minister of the Gospel"; his son William Arnold was married in 1866 by Elder J. C. Caudle, at the Elders' home.
