I've been eavesdropping on the continuing notes regarding marriage licenses, etc. I'm curious as to what department one would send to for the marriage applicatin information? Did the county clerk keep the information or the Board of Health. Although I have one set of grandparent's marriage license from that era, to have the application would be the proverbial "icing on the cake". Thanks and God bless. Since I read about this genealogical hint somewhere, I always ask for the marriage license, application and any other papers related to the marriage. I have never been charged more that the price of the marriage license and if they exist, I get copies of the extra papers. For some counties you can get the marriage records from the IL Regional Archives. Pretty cheap if I remember correctly. For the counties that have retained their marriage records and you should have good luck writing the county clerk. Linda McDowell in CA
