Betty, I have one person named Emmons listed in my database, a woman, and the church was in Lawrence County, Illinois. I am disappointed that no one knows the Gene Lemons near Roodhouse; I was hoping someone might be able to help me inquire about the Union church records. As you can see, they would have the Caudle name, and many others (several hundred members). It is a shame if they are lost. If anyone knows their whereabouts, I hope they will come forward. I believe the minutes of Concord Association which I have, show that Shiloah Church in Macoupin Co., did already have a meeting house (it probably was a log bldg) by 1841 when they hosted the meeting. The brick church at the edge of Winchester was built in 1856, which would put it (I think) within the time frame that John Record was pastor. I think it is possible (but am not sure) that Isham Caudle was ordained as a minister after he returned to Wayne Co., rather than while he was in the Macoupin/Green Co. area. Another Turner (Aaron) is listed as a member of Rock Springs Church in Macoupin Co., which is probably the same Turner family you mentioned having close connections in Tennessee, but I do not know myself. I may have gone overboard telling about John Record, but I have started a file on many of these early pioneer ministers, and now have one for him. In addition to what I have mentioned, I will say that I did find a Circular Letter he wrote was published in the Association minutes one year at least. I hope some of this will help you make family connections. Feel free to share all of this with Avie, who has also expressed an interest in his Caudle family tree.
