It is also wise to ask for a copy of the back of this Lic. as many times written permission was submitted if the couple were minors and is often missed. In the 1890's, the IL. Board of Health required an application for a marriage Lic. Information such as the Groom's place of residence, occupation, age, color, race, place of birth, father's name and mother's maiden name, and number of marriages; Bride's place of residence, age etc, place of birth, father's name and mother's maiden name, and number of marriages.
