Hi, I'm Ed Wines whose paternal ancestors lived in Greene County for about 50 years before moving on to Kansas. My paternal gggrandfather, William Wines died toward the end of 1860 after having lost a number of his family to typhoid earlier in the same year. I would be interesting in learning if there were any newspapers that were in existence then that would still be preserved that might have an obituary of him published in it. I'm still searching for information about his parents who lived in NC and would hope that an obituary might have some information about them. He was buried in the Thompson #2 cemetery west of Kane and during the last few years of his life lived in town. I am not sure whether there were headstones in the cemetery for any of the family and would like to know. I have information obtained through a volunteer that was taken from the cemetery records but would be interested in knowing if there are headstones. Any help on these matters would be appreciated. I'm hoping to be able to visit the county sometime in the next few months. Ed Wines
