Listmembers, I am new to this list. From info at a vital records web site, do I understand that Greene Co., IL county offices/clerks will NOT copy marriage records? I must hire a title company or local reseacher to obtain copies of marriage records? Is there is any other info such as parent names on these 1867 marriage records? Specifically, I would like to verify a marriage for: David BURLEYSON to Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzie" BROWN on Aug 4, 1867 in Kane, Greene Co., IL./ marriage recorded in Carollton, Greene Co., IL. I do marriage lookups in Bond County, which is a neighbor. It was not until 1878 that parents were required to be listed there. I would assume it was a state law. Occasionally, a parent will be listed, but it is the exception when it happens. It has been my experence that Greene county clerk will provide you with a certified paper stating what the actual records shows but will not provide you a copy of the actual record.
