In today's Herald and Review, Decatur newspaper, there is an article re the old Gouge cemetery in Harristown township and reference to the William Hanks family who are buried here. This is in Macon County. I believe some of the Hanks families spilled over into surrounding counties, so thought this might be of interest. URL below. This is the Hanks family that was connected to Abraham Lincoln's mother. http://www.hrtimeout.com/current/entfeatureslead/entfeatureslead.php http://www.heraldreview.com/ If the first URL doesn't work, try the second one and scroll down towards the bottom of the page for the link. --------------------------------------------------- Mary Ann Kaylor MY FAMILY GENEALOGY http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~makaylor/index.html CONVERSE CONNECTIONS http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~converse/index.html CONVERSE MAIL LIST Adminstrator TEDROW MAIL LIST Administrator KAYLOR MAIL LIST - To subscribe, please review KAYLOR MAIL LIST GUIDELINES: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~zimzip/kaylor/maillist/

Dear ILGreene webmaster (Jeannie) I still can't send an e-mail to you at your wordgenius address. It bounces back saying "fatal error". I've just checked the surname researchers page and see that my name needs to be added as a researcher for Davis, Morrow, and Eveland in Greene Co. IL. Thank you. Lois Willand
Hi, all, 1. Updated surname list I have finished adding everyone's surnames to our surname list and consolidated the two lists we had into one big one. Check your email links on the surname list to make sure I have the correct one for you. Email me OFF THE LIST (please) with corrections if any. 2. The votes are in, and here are the results on list options: A. 18 for having message replies on the IL-Greene mailing list go to the whole list 10 for having that option removed. RESULTS: We'll keep it like it is and all replies will go to the list unless you change the "send-to" address on your reply. The majority said that often they get clues from the replies others send, even if it's not related to their family. B. 22 for having the message board postings go automatically to the list 5 for not Many said this was very useful, and eliminated having to check the messages separately. This shouldn't increase our traffic on the list significantly, anyway, as the message board is pretty quiet most of the time. C. Digest to go to 1 a day: 6 Digest to stay at 2 a day: 7 By a narrow margin we'll keep it like it is, so those on Digest mode (meaning emails are collected and sent out in one message at a set interval) will get two emails a day when the messages are flowing, or less if there is a low volume of emails. 3. I updated the Home page and Links/Resources page to make them easier to find stuff on them. Hope you like it. Be sure and check out the MAGA link on the Links/Resources page, and the Greene Co. Fact Page, too - lots of interesting stuff. And, as always, feel free to suggest any changes in layout or content. These are your pages more than they are mine. The State of New Jersey is trying to complete a turnpike project. In doing so the future of a cemetery is at stake. A descendant of one of the 3500 or even possibly 9000 burials in the cemetery has been fighting the various levels of government in order to save the cemetery. It is my understanding that the those involved with the project were going to remove any remains and bury all in one great big mass grave and not make any attempt to notify the descendants/relatives. There is a website which has numerous articles and other information. Your support is needed. There are two ways to speak up and have your voice heard: 1) download a printable petition and obtain signatures, or 2) sign an online petition. I hope that those who have ancestors in the State of New Jersey will support the effort in saving this cemetery. If you don't have ancestors or relatives in New Jersey, then consider the fact that it could happen to a cemetery where your ancestors are buried. The website address is - www.graveinfo.com When I first heard about this a couple of months ago, I was appalled and emailed a couple of letters. I didn't think I would make a difference having no connections to New Jersey, but evidently it helped in some way. So if one can help do something, just think what thousands can do as a group. If you are are other mail lists, please pass this information on. The more signatures, the better chance that the officials in New Jersey as well as all other states will see that we care about our ancestors and respect their burial locations. Thank you for your support. Debbi Geer __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

Hi Genealogy Friends, I was wondering if someone would help me out with a problem I am having with my FTM. Lately when I click on my FTM a message comes up that reads, "An error has occurred in OLE2NLS.DLL. Please try reinstalling OLE." I don't have a clue what OLE is or how to do this. Sure could use some help. Thanks, Nancy
GO to the Family Tree Maker website and see it there is anything about it in their FAQ page,...it not, you might want to email them. I've had problems with it before and they are very helpful!! ----- Original Message ----- From: rmiller To: SellanaBelle@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2002 10:24 PM Subject: Answer to your Family Tree Maker Error Message Troubleshooting Family Tree Maker OLE2NLS.DLL Error Message. If you encounter the following error message when starting Family Tree Maker 7.0, this troubleshooting aid from FTM will help you overcome this simple but common problem. Message: "An error has occurred in OLE2NLS.DLL. Please try reinstalling OLE." Every time Family Tree Maker starts it checks with Windows for information about the current language settings. These settings are used, for instance, to determine the way that dates are displayed. If the international settings are set to German, you would see März instead of March. If there is a problem with these settings, Family Tree Maker may display the message "An error has occurred in OLE2NLS.DLL. Please try reinstalling OLE." If this is the case, here are some instructions that should allow you to proceed. Ensure the correct Regional Settings entry is selected 1.. Click Start then Settings and then Control Panel. 2.. Double-click on the Regional Settings icon. 3.. Click the Regional Settings tab. 4.. If English (United States) is not chosen, select it from the list. Choose OK and allow your computer to restart. 5.. If English (United States) is selected, continue to the next section. Create a shortcut in your Startup group for Regional Settings 1.. Click Start then Settings and then Control Panel. 2.. Right-click the Regional Settings icon, select Create Shortcut, and agree to have it placed on your Desktop. 3.. Go to your Desktop, right-click your mouse on the icon and select Cut. 4.. Right-click in an empty space in your Taskbar (which is between your Start button and the System Tray which contains your clock) and choose Properties. 5.. Click the Start Menu Programs tab. 6.. Click the Advanced button. 7.. Click the folder called Programs on the left hand side of the screen so the folder icon is open. 8.. Double-click the StartUp folder in the right hand side of the screen. 9.. From the Edit menu choose Paste. You should then see a copy the Regional Settings icon. 10.. Exit everything and restart your computer. 11.. When the screen for Regional Settings appears on your desktop, click either OK or Cancel to close it Keep this short-cut in your Windows StartUp folder from now on, so that the Regional Settings screen will appear each time you start your computer.
Doesn't FTM have a list you can subscribe to, where people who are experts will help with such problems? I know that Family Origins does, and it is great...people on that list know the program inside out, and will often help with other computer problems as well.
