Penny, I'm Kathy and I saw your msg to Ed about the cemetary. Do you have a John Rose buried anywhere. I believe he was killed by a train in Scott county on 5 Aug 1884 but so far I can't prove it. Also looking for a Geo Rose who would have been born in 1879 in Scott or Greene county death date unknown.. Jean I forgot something. The obit says Mrs David Hudson of White Hall is the only surviving daughter. If I find more,, I'll advise you. Let me know about Martha. Martha was a ROSE, before she married TUCKER. She had 3 ROSE children (John W.. Geo and Sarah E. Rose) in Scott and Greene co before her husband John was killed by a train over near Manchester in Scott Co. I can't find where John is buried either or what happen to the children when Martha married James Tucker. His obit shows him as widowed in 1905 when he dies but is that because Martha died or one of his previous 2 marriages? His obit doesn't mention Martha at all. Martha and James may have divorced before he died. I don't know. Hi, this is Kathy again. The James Brown Tucker that was married to my gggrandmother was 53 on 8 Aug 1885 and was born in Greene Co. Ill and died on 7 Jan 1905 in White Hall, Ill and was buried in Jones cemetery. He was the father of Peter J. and Henry Tucker. That's about all I have on him. What I was looking for was what happened to his third wife Martha J. Rose, my gggrandmother. Hope some of this helps. If you have or find anything on Martha I would appreciate it. I am wondering if anyone on this list is in Greene County and would be willing to look up a few obits for me. There are four obits, three for people who passed away in White Hall, and one who died in Roodhouse. I have exact dates in the years 1917, 1921, 1931, and 1945. I'll be glad to pay for copies and mailing, etc. Many thanks in advance to anyone who might be willing to help. Annie

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season, snow and all! Next week I'll be back at work on the list and web site - since Thanksgiving it's been hospital visits for mom-in-law, last-minute visits from out-of-town relatives, shopping, shopping, shopping, wrapping, wrapping, wrapping, visiting, visiting, visiting, cooking, cooking, cooking, all the things that make holidays hectic but fun. Hope you all are having as fun a time as I am, without the hospital visits of course, and drive safely through that big snowstorm if you're going through the middle parts of our country or in the northeast. We're having a white Xmas here, too, but it's snow left over from last week. Talk to you all later after the holiday rush. I'm attempting to help the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Illinois Division document the burials of Confederate veterans buried in one of our counties (Greene, Scott, Cass, Morgan, Macoupin, Menard & Sangamon). I'm wondering if anyone has death information on any of the following veterans, I've managed to obtain obits for several others, but need a death date (at least a year) to try and find obits for these: For Greene County: Carrollton Cemetery: CLIFFORD, James H., Co. F, 42nd NC Inf.; Fernwood Cemetery: ANDERSON, William Henry, Pvt., Co. H/K, 47th NC Inf. Jones Cemetery: REAVIS, Frank White Hall Cemetery EGAN, James LOWENSTEIN, Isaac, Pvt., Gleaves Co., 60th Mil. Ark. I'm hoping one or more of the above veterans belongs to one of our researchers.
